With a profound sense of responsibility and compassion, La Vie en Rose has undertaken a highly significant social initiative: a €5 million donation for the creation of the new Oncology Day Care Unit at Laiko Hospital, scheduled for completion in 2027. This important project aims to improve the quality of life of cancer patients by providing dignified care conditions and faster access to treatment, making a meaningful difference in the daily lives of both patients and their families.
A Project of Significant Social Impact
The new unit will be housed at 175 Alexandras Avenue in a building with a total area of approximately 2,700 square metres and will have the capacity to serve more than 200 oncology patients each day. The donation covers the preparation of all required studies, the complete renovation of the building, and its outfitting with state-of-the-art medical and technological infrastructure, transforming it into a modern Oncology Day Care Unit. The establishment of the unit is considered particularly important in helping to ease the burden on outpatient clinics while strengthening the overall healthcare services provided to people facing the daily challenge of cancer.
A Personal Lifelong Commitment
The new unit will bear the name “Dimitra Maria Katsafadou”, honouring not only the donor herself but also her grandmother, Maria Katsafadou, the person who instilled in her the values of generosity, compassion and social responsibility. For Dimitra Katsafadou, this initiative represents a deeply personal commitment and a tangible expression of gratitude to the people who have supported her journey throughout the years. As she has stated: "It may seem like an impossible dream, yet it is a dream come true — one that comes from the depths of my soul."
